About our Pastor

Pastor Jira Albers is the pastor of Wysox Presbyterian Church and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Pastor Jira was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota and was raised on various farms throughout Minnesota and Nebraska. He received his bachelor's degree in Religion and Theatre from Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota. In the spring of 2003, he received his Master's of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA and in August of that same year he and his wife, Randele Albers were ordained into the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America with whom the Presbyterian Church (USA) has a full communion agreement.

Having a passion for God's story, Pastor Jira hopes that people might discover their own story within God's story of grace found in Jesus Christ. He has a love for helping the poor, loves relating God's story to children and teens, and loves to see God's story come alive in art and music.

Pastor Jira currently lives south of New Albany with his wife. He has two adult children, and one granddaughter who is loved very much by her grandparents. In addition to caring for his granddaughter, Pastor Jira loves to write hymns, play the acoustic guitar, backpack, paint, design scenery for live theatre, and loves photography.
